XML Exam I10-003 Topic 6 Question 58 Discussion

Actual exam question for XML's I10-003 exam
Question #: 58
Topic #: 6
[All I10-003 Questions]

Assume the use of XML Data like [XML Data] referenced in a separate window. When a data element is present in XML Data, there are three possibilities for b element as shown in [XML Data b Element] (separate window). No other possibilities are available.

Consider inserting any XML data into an XMLDB using the methods shown in [Operation 1] or [Operation 2].

[Operation 2]

After validating against the following [DTD], insert XML data (having no validation errors) into the XMLDB (do not consider the existence of a document type declaration in the XML data).

When the b element value is "null", the value of the b element is null.

When the b element value is a character string other than "null", the b element value is 1 in [XML Data b Element].

When the b element is an empty element, the b element value is 2 in [XML Data b Element].

I feel like I need to call in an XML whisperer to help me decipher this question. Where's Gandalf when you need him?

Is it just me, or does this question make anyone else want to go read a good book instead of an XML DTD?

I wonder if the exam writers are trying to trip us up with this question. Time to put on my detective hat and really analyze those XML data and DTD!

This is a tricky one! I'm leaning towards answer C, but I want to double-check the details before I commit to that.

I agree with you. It seems like the details are clear in both methods.

I think answer C is correct. The methods in Operation 1 and Operation 2 can clearly identify the three possibilities.

The wording of the question is a bit confusing. I think the key is understanding how the methods in Operations 1 and 2 handle the different b element values.

The question is quite clear, but I'm not sure if I understand the implications of the three possibilities for the b element. I'll need to review the XML data and DTD more carefully.

Yes, the value of the b element determines which possibility it falls under in the XML data.

I think the key is to pay close attention to the value of the b element in the XML data.

I agree with Charisse. The DTD provides clear guidelines for inserting XML data into the XMLDB.
