Disk device? Really? That's like booting from a spinning rust. Definitely SD and SATADOM for me. Although, if I had my way, I'd boot from a unicorn's horn. Now that would be enterprise-grade!
I'm not sure about PMEM, isn't that more for persistent memory? I'd go with USB and SATADOM - those are pretty standard boot devices for enterprise-grade servers.
I think the recommended boot devices are definitely SD and SATADOM. Those seem like the most reliable options for a vSAN cluster with high memory hosts.
