Option A? Really? Migrating the VM won't help you revert if the update goes wrong. It's like trying to put out a fire with gasoline.

I'm surprised anyone would choose option C or D. Cloning the VM to a template or another VM doesn't give you the ability to revert, which is the key requirement here.
