But wouldn't using the Veeam server as a proxy cause additional load? I still think option B is the best choice.

I'm not sure about that. Wouldn't it be better to install a file system Indexing plugin on the Windows server? That seems like the more direct approach to me.

Hmm, this seems straightforward. I think option D is the way to go, using the Veeam Backup & Replication server as the guest interaction proxy. After all, it's right there in the question.
