Snowflake Exam ARA-C01 Topic 3 Question 45 Discussion

Actual exam question for Snowflake's ARA-C01 exam
Question #: 45
Topic #: 3
[All ARA-C01 Questions]

A user has the appropriate privilege to see unmasked data in a column.

If the user loads this column data into another column that does not have a masking policy, what will occur?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: C

Effective pruning in Snowflake relies on the organization of data within micro-partitions. By using an ORDER BY clause with clustering keys when loading data into the reporting tables, Snowflake can better organize the data within micro-partitions. This organization allows Snowflake to skip over irrelevant micro-partitions during a query, thus improving query performance and reducing the amount of data scanned12.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm feeling a bit 'masked' by all these options. Maybe we should just ask the data fairies for the answer.

Option D is a bit of a head-scratcher. Unmasked data that no one can see? Might as well just leave it in the original column then. I'm sticking with A.

I'm going to have to disagree with Margery. Option C sounds like the way to go - unmasked data, but only for those with the right permissions. Seems like the best of both worlds to me.

I agree with Marya, because it makes sense that only users with the right privileges should be able to see the unmasked data.

I wouldn't rely on Option C. Just because the user has privileges, doesn't mean the data will be automatically masked for other users. Better safe than sorry, go with A.

Option A is the correct answer. Unmasked data will be loaded into the new column, as the user has the appropriate privileges to see the unmasked data.

I disagree, I believe the answer is C) Unmasked data will be loaded into the new column but only users with the appropriate privileges will be able to see the unmasked data.
