I'm not so sure about that. The Custom Fields app is great, but I've heard that the Adapt UI (Runtime Authoring mode) can also be used to enable customer-specific fields.
I think the Custom Fields app is the way to go. It allows you to add custom fields to the relevant business context, which can then be used in UIs and reports.
This question seems straightforward, but I'm not entirely sure about the best way to approach it. Let's discuss the options and see if we can come to a consensus.
