Hmm, I'm not so sure. C) Calculation could be useful for some advanced validation, and A) Messaging might be good for communicating the results to the user. This one's a thinker!

I think B) Alert and D) Formula are the way to go. Alerts can display error messages, and Formulas can handle the validation logic. Pretty straightforward, if you ask me.
