Using a second subnet and VIP? That's a bit of a weird workaround. I'm not sure how that would address the underlying issue with the broken ISL.

Changing to a breakout cable is an interesting idea, but I'm not sure if that would be compatible with the existing setup. Might be worth exploring, but I'd want to double-check the hardware specifications first.

Dividing the LAG into one per switch seems like the most straightforward solution. That way, we can maintain the overall bandwidth without relying on the broken ISL.

That could work too, but I believe dividing the LAG would provide better redundancy in case of failure.
