I'm going with D. Only one of the t1 objects is getting the boot, while the other one's probably sitting there, sipping coffee and reading the newspaper. Java, you so crazy.

I think the answer is C) None of the objects are eligible for garbage collection because there are still references to them.

Gotta be C, right? I mean, if the program is printing 'GC', that must mean the garbage collector is running, but not actually collecting anything. Classic Java move.

I see your point, it does seem like a Java trick. 'GC' could just be a signal that the garbage collector is being called, not actually collecting anything.

I agree, it seems like a trick question. 'GC' doesn't necessarily mean objects are being collected, just that the garbage collector is running.

Yeah, I think you're right. 'GC' probably just means the garbage collector is being invoked, but not necessarily collecting anything.

I'm not sure, but I think the answer might be B) Both the objects previously referenced by t1 are eligible for garbage collection.

I disagree, I believe the answer is D) Only one of the objects previously referenced by t1 is eligible for garbage collection.

Hmm, this one's tricky. I'd say B, because clearly both t1 references are gone, so they should be eligible for collection. But who knows, Java can be a real mystery sometimes.

Yeah, Java can be unpredictable sometimes, but I agree with you on this one.

But what about t2? Only one object is eligible for collection.
