Oracle Exam 1Z0-580 Topic 2 Question 85 Discussion

Actual exam question for Oracle's 1Z0-580 exam
Question #: 85
Topic #: 2
[All 1Z0-580 Questions]

What two benefits will Oracle and our customers likely realize by utilizing a fully integrated stack architecture?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

Note:

* 1 The ''i'' in the I column indicates that these packages are installed in this image.

2 An ''f'' in the F column indicates the package is frozen. If a package is frozen, you can only install or update to packages that match the frozen version.

* The pkg list command tells you whether a package is installed in the current image and whether an update is available. With no options or operands, this command lists all packages that are installed in the current image. To narrow your results, provide one or more package names. You can use wildcards in the package names. Package variants for an architecture or zone type that does not match this image are not listed.

Hmm, I'm not so sure about this 'fully integrated stack' thing. Simplified maintenance is great, but 'locked into the Oracle architecture'? That's a hard pass for me. I'd rather deal with multiple vendors and support contracts than be a hostage to a single vendor's ecosystem.

The benefits are pretty clear - tighter integration and easier maintenance. Although, I'm a bit worried about the 'more hugs and patches' bit. Is Oracle secretly harboring a gang of overly affectionate IT support staff? Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I'm not so sure about option D) Customers will be locked into the Oracle architecture. That might limit flexibility in the long run.

I think the benefits are A) They will receive hardware and software designed to work together and B) Maintenance for the overall enterprise will be simplified.

A fully integrated stack architecture sounds like a no-brainer. Hardware and software designed to work together? Sign me up! Maintenance simplification is a huge plus too. Can't wait to get locked into the Oracle ecosystem - who needs flexibility, right?
