Woah, this is a brain-teaser! I'm going to guess D - the managed server must reside on the same machine as the admin server, so it can't start without the admin server around.

I'm going with C. If this managed server is part of a cluster and the cluster master is down, then the managed server probably can't start up on its own.

Haha, this is a tricky one! I bet the answer is E - the managed server can't get updates to its local LDAP store without the admin server. What a classic WebLogic problem!

I'm not sure about this one. Could it be A? If the managed server has Managed Server Independence mode disabled, then it might not be able to start without the admin server.

Hmm, I think the answer is B. If the admin server is down, the managed server can't get the latest configuration, so it can't start up.

That makes sense, but could it also be possible that the managed server must be part of a cluster and the cluster master is also down?

I disagree, I believe the problem is that the managed server always contacts the admin server for the latest configuration, and since the admin server is down, it cannot start.

I think the issue might be that the managed server has disabled Managed Server Independence mode.
