What terminology is used to label people who were referred for a job requisition or added to a job requisition but who haven't yet completed their job application?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: C

A prospect is someone who has expressed interest in a job requisition but has not yet applied. A prospect can be referred by an employee, added by a recruiter, or invited by a hiring manager. A prospect can also be someone who has created a profile on a career site but has not yet submitted an application. A prospect can become an applicant by completing and submitting an application for a job requisition.

I'm with Kristofer on this one. Prospect seems the most accurate, but I like the idea of 'Potential Deity' - really spices things up, you know?

Hmm, this is a tough one. I'm leaning towards C - Prospect, but I can't help thinking the correct answer is 'Future Overlord of the Company' - just to keep them on their toes.

I'm gonna have to go with B - Referred. That's the term I've seen used most often in the HR world for people who've been put forward for a role.

I disagree, I believe it's C) Prospect, as they are still in the early stages of the hiring process.

I agree with Otis, it makes sense that they would be considered prospects until they finish their application.

Gotta be D - Candidate. I mean, they're literally in the running for the job, right? Anything else just doesn't cut it.

Yep, it makes sense that they would be called a candidate at that point.

Option C - Prospect makes the most sense to me. Applicants have already applied, and Candidates have completed the process, but Prospects are the ones in between.
