Actual exam question for Oracle's 1Z0-1042-25 exam
Question #: 8
Topic #: 4
[All 1Z0-1042-25 Questions]

Your design of an asynchronous OIC integration flow includes the requirement for additional processing logic that is conditionally based on the results returned to the integration instance from earlier external service invocations. You decide to leverage the Switch action to facilitate this implementation.

Which is a valid consideration concerning the configuration and capabilities of the Switch action?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

XPath version 2.0 functions can be used within the Switch action to create complex conditional expressions for branch evaluation in OIC.

As a developer, I'd be tempted to just use a series of If actions instead of a Switch. Less elegant, but sometimes simple is better.

D is interesting, but using XPath 2.0 feels like overkill for simple conditional checks.

C is a bit too restrictive. I'd expect at least a default 'else' branch to be optional.

That's a good point, Rocco. We need to consider the complexity of our conditional expressions.

I'm not sure about option D though. Using XPath functions might make the conditional expressions too complex.

I agree with Aleshia. Option A makes sense for scoping the data objects.

I think option A is correct because data objects are only visible within the branch of the Switch action.

B seems like a fair point. Nested Switch actions could get messy, so simpler conditional expressions are probably better.

The correct answer is A. Data objects within a Switch action are scoped to that branch, which makes sense for conditional processing logic.

Exactly, it helps keep the logic clean and organized within the integration flow.

That makes sense. It keeps the data scoped to where it's needed for conditional processing.
