I think the answer is A) only UML models including profiles. XMI was originally designed for UML, and while it can handle other types of models, I'm not sure it's as widely used for them.

I'm pretty sure it's C) instances of MOF models. XMI is all about serializing and exchanging models, and MOF is the standard for defining metamodels.
