D is the only way to go. Anything else would be like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Gotta work with the resources you have, not the ones you wish you had.

Haha, I can't imagine trying to fit a 20-node cluster on a 16-port switch. Option D is the clear winner. Might as well throw a hammer at the problem if you go with any other choice.

That could work too, but setting VLAN tags on all hosts and CVMs seems like the most efficient solution.

I'm going with D. Building a separate four-node cluster is the only logical choice here. Trying to force a 20-node cluster on a 16-port switch is just asking for trouble.
