Inline Compression seems like a good option here, since the data is normally only accessed at the end of the year. That way, the space savings are immediate.

Erasure Coding is a great choice for this VM, but I'm not sure which specific feature would be the best. I'd probably go with Post-Process Compression to save the most space.
