[All NCP-US Questions]

An administrator needs to scale out an existing Files instance. Based on the Company's requirements, File instance has four FSVMs configured and needs to expand to six.

How many additional Client IP addresses and Storage IP addresses does the administrator require to complete this task?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

The administrator can meet this requirement by configuring data protection policies in the Files view in Prism Central. Data protection policies are policies that define how file data is protected by taking snapshots, replicating them to another site, or tiering them to cloud storage. Data protection policies can be configured for each share or export in a file server in the Files view in Prism Central. The administrator can create different data protection policies for different shares or exports based on their protection needs and requirements.Reference:Nutanix Files Administration Guide, page 79; Nutanix Files Solution Guide, page 9

Wait, so we're expanding the File instance but we can't use the existing IP addresses? That's like trying to expand your house by building a new one next door. What is this, a tech exam or a real estate quiz?

I'm pretty confident the answer is B) 2 Client IPs and 2 Storage IPs. Adding two new FSVMs would require a total of 6 Client IPs and 6 Storage IPs, and we already have 4 of each, so the answer is 2 of each.

Haha, this question is a real brain-teaser! I'm going to go with C) 3 Client IPs and 3 Storage IPs, just to be on the safe side. You can never have too many IP addresses, right?

Hmm, I'm not sure. Does the question mean we need to add 2 FSVMs or just expand the existing 4? I might go with D) 2 Client IPs and 3 Storage IPs, just to be safe.

I'm not sure, but I think we need to consider the number of FSVMs and the requirements before making a decision.
