Question #: 18
Topic #: 3
[All NS0-304 Questions]

An administrator wants to migrate their SMB file server from on-premises to CVO using Cloud Sync. The NTFS ACLs need to be transferred. What should the administrator do?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A

To manage on-premises E-Series and StorageGRID systems within a new BlueXP instance and address issues with visibility, the administrator needs to configure the Connector. Here's why:

Role of the Connector: The BlueXP Connector acts as a bridge between on-premises systems and BlueXP. It facilitates communication and data flow, making on-premises systems visible and manageable from the cloud-based BlueXP platform.

Setting up the Connector: Install the Connector on a network that has visibility to both the E-Series and StorageGRID systems. Ensure that it can communicate with BlueXP over the internet and with the on-premises systems over the local network.

Troubleshooting Visibility Issues: If BlueXP cannot view the on-premises systems, the issue often lies with the Connector's configuration or connectivity. Verifying and rectifying this can resolve the problem and ensure successful management through BlueXP.

For more information on installing and configuring the BlueXP Connector, refer to the NetApp BlueXP documentation: NetApp BlueXP Connector Guide.

Wait, we're migrating a file server to the cloud? I hope the admin packed a parachute for the server!

A) Select the 'Copy Access Control Lists to the target' option in the DataBroker settings? I think the administrator needs to be looking at the Cloud Sync options, not DataBroker.

D) Create an SVM-DR relationship with 'Identity preserve set to true' is an interesting choice, but it seems overkill for a simple file server migration.

I'm not sure why the administrator would need to use rsync after the sync is complete. Cloud Sync should handle the ACL transfer directly.

I'm not sure, but I think using rsync after the sync is complete could also work to transfer the NTFS ACLs.

C) Select the 'Copy Access Control Lists to the target' option in Cloud Sync is the correct answer. It's the straightforward way to transfer the NTFS ACLs during the migration.

I agree with Glendora, copying the ACLs to the target in Cloud Sync seems like the right choice.

I think the administrator should select option C in Cloud Sync to copy the ACLs.
