Question #: 83
Topic #: 7
[All DP-203 Questions]

You have the Azure Synapse Analytics pipeline shown in the following exhibit.

You need to add a set variable activity to the pipeline to ensure that after the pipeline's completion, the status of the pipeline is always successful.

What should you configure for the set variable activity?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

Tumbling window self-dependency properties

In scenarios where the trigger shouldn't proceed to the next window until the preceding window is successfully completed, build a self-dependency. A self-dependency trigger that's dependent on the success of earlier runs of itself within the preceding hour will have the properties indicated in the following code.

Example code:

'name': 'DemoSelfDependency',

'properties': {

'runtimeState': 'Started',

'pipeline': {

'pipelineReference': {

'referenceName': 'Demo',

'type': 'PipelineReference'

}

},

'type': 'TumblingWindowTrigger',

'typeProperties': {

'frequency': 'Hour',

'interval': 1,

'startTime': '2018-10-04T00:00:00Z',

'delay': '00:01:00',

'maxConcurrency': 50,

'retryPolicy': {

'intervalInSeconds': 30

},

'dependsOn': [

{

'type': 'SelfDependencyTumblingWindowTriggerReference',

'size': '01:00:00',

'offset': '-01:00:00'

}

]

}

}

}

Hmm, this question is making my head spin. Maybe the correct answer is to just throw the entire pipeline out the window and start over from scratch. That's what I'd do if I was the boss!

I'm not sure about this one. Option C seems a bit strange - why would we want to skip the Upon Success activity? I'd need to do some more research before deciding.

B: I agree, skipping the Upon Success activity doesn't make sense. We need to ensure the pipeline is always successful.

A: I think option C is not correct. We shouldn't skip the Upon Success activity.

This is a tricky one, but I'd go with option D. Skipping the dependency on the Upon Failure activity seems like the best way to guarantee a successful pipeline status, no matter what happens.

I agree, option D seems like the safest choice to make sure the pipeline is successful no matter what.

I think option D makes sense. Skipping the dependency on the Upon Failure activity should ensure the pipeline always ends with a successful status.

I'm leaning towards option A. That way, the set variable activity will only run if the Business Activity That Fails is successful, which seems like the desired behavior.

Hmm, that's an interesting point. Maybe we should consider both options and see which one works best.

I disagree, I believe we should configure a skipped dependency on the Upon Success activity.

Hmm, I think option B would be the correct choice here. Setting a failure dependency on the Upon Failure activity ensures that the pipeline's status is always successful, even if there's a failure in the Business Activity That Fails step.

Yes, setting a failure dependency on the Upon Failure activity makes sense in this scenario.
