ISTQB Exam CTAL-TTA Topic 6 Question 28 Discussion

Actual exam question for ISTQB's CTAL-TTA exam
Question #: 28
Topic #: 6
[All CTAL-TTA Questions]

Consider the following specification:

If you are flying with an economy ticket, there is a possibility that you may get upgraded to business class, especially if you hold a gold card in the airline's frequent flier program. If you don't hold a gold card, there is a possibility that you will get 'bumped' off the flight if it is full when you check in late.

This is shown in the control flow graph below. Note that each box (i.e., statement, decision) has been numbered.

Three tests have been run:

Test 1: Gold card holder who gets upgraded to business class

Test 2: Non-gold card holder who stays in economy

Test 3: A person who is bumped from the flight

What is the level of decision coverage achieved by these three tests?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: C

Stress testing is the most appropriate method for identifying weak areas in code that may cause performance issues, especially under conditions of extreme load or stress. This type of testing deliberately pushes the system beyond its normal operational capacity to see how it behaves under stress, which can help reveal vulnerabilities in error recovery and transactional integrity that are not apparent under normal conditions. Stress testing can provide early insights into potential failure points and help prioritize areas for improvement before full-scale deployment.

This question is a real turbulence, but I'm confident the answer is C) 75%. After all, I've got a frequent flyer card, and I'm always ready to get bumped for a free upgrade!

Ah, the joys of air travel! Bumped from a flight - that's a classic. As for the question, I'm going with D) 80%. Why? Because that's the number of flights I've been bumped from in the last year. Just kidding, I think the answer is C) 75%.

Hold on, I'm just trying to wrap my head around this control flow graph. It looks like a choose-your-own-adventure book from the 80s! Anyway, I think B) 67% is the right answer.

I think B) 67% makes sense based on the tests described.

Hmm, I'm not so sure about that. The question says there are 3 tests, but it doesn't specify if they cover all the possible outcomes of the decisions. I'm leaning towards D) 80%.

Yeah, I agree. The tests seem to cover all scenarios, so D) 80% makes sense.

Right, those percentages would be too low based on the information given.

That makes sense, so it's not 60% or 67% then.
