When the HDFS Client writes a file, the writing position of the first copy of the data is determined by the NameNode, and the writing position of the other copies is determined by the DataNode.
I wonder if the DataNodes get a say in where they store the data, or if the NameNode just tells them 'Hey, put this here!' Sounds like a dictatorship if you ask me.
Hmm, this sounds like a trick question. I bet the answer is False, because the NameNode is the one calling the shots for the entire file writing process.
B) False. The NameNode determines the writing position for all the replicas, not just the first one. It's the NameNode's job to manage the data layout across the cluster.
