Well, if we're talking about VADP, I'm pretty sure it's all about the storage. So A is definitely the way to go. Although, I do have to wonder if it works with virtual machines that are haunted. Wouldn't that be a fun twist?
I'm not sure about C, since AIX is an IBM operating system, not a VMware one. And D is a bit too broad - it really depends on the specific applications, not just the fact that they're non-Microsoft.
A and B seem like the most logical options to me. VADP is designed to work with storage-based backups, and databases tend to be large, so those make sense.
