I agree with Shawnta. Target-side deduplication seems like the best choice here. Why would we want to delete the backup software? That doesn't make much sense.

I'm not sure about that. Wouldn't target-side deduplication be better in this scenario? That way, the backup software can handle the deduplication process and we don't have to worry about overloading the client.
