Question #: 38

[All HPE7-A01 Questions]

Two AOS-CX switches are configured with VSX at the the Access-Aggregation layer where servers attach to them An SVI interface is configured for VLAN 10 and serves as the default gateway for VLAN 10. The ISL link between the switches fails, but the keepalive interface functions. Active gateway has been configured on the VSX switches.

Wait, so the VSX switches are still keeping the VLAN 10 SVI up and running as the default gateway, even with the ISL link failure? That's pretty neat!

E seems like a trap. Since the ISL link is down, I don't think Server 1 and Server 2 can communicate with each other directly through the core layer.

Haha, I bet the exam writer is trying to trick us with that 'only one uplink' option. Clearly, with the VSX setup, Server 1 should be able to access the core layer via both uplinks.

Hmm, I'm not sure about C. If the active gateway is configured on the VSX switches, Server 2 should still be able to access the core layer, even with the ISL link failure.

Since the ISL link between the VSX switches has failed, I believe the correct answers are A and B. Server 1 and Server 2 can access the core layer via the keepalive link, as the active gateway is still functioning.

That's good to know. It's important to have redundancy in place for network connectivity.

So, Server 2 cannot access the core layer then?

I agree, because the ISL link may have failed but the keepalive interface is still functioning.

I think Server 1 can access the core layer via both uplinks.
