When personal data are processed, who is ultimately responsible for demonstrating compliance with the GDPR?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

Data protection and privacy are complementary, but not the same thing.

A very repeated phrase is: ''It is possible to have security without privacy, but it is not possible to have privacy without security''.

Privacy is a right that must be protected, and Data Protection are the measures that will be used to achieve this protection.

Ah yes, the all-powerful controller. Flexing their GDPR muscles and making the rest of us mere mortals tremble in their presence. No pressure, right?

I was torn between C and D, but I think D is the correct answer. The controller is the one who calls the shots on data processing, so they need to be able to prove they're following the rules.

The controller is ultimately responsible for demonstrating GDPR compliance. As the entity that determines the purposes and means of processing personal data, the buck stops with them.

But isn't the data protection officer (DPO) also responsible for ensuring compliance with the GDPR?
