Exin Exam PDPF Topic 1 Question 24 Discussion

Actual exam question for Exin's PDPF exam
Question #: 24
Topic #: 1
[All PDPF Questions]

When is a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) mandatory?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

Data protection and privacy are complementary, but not the same thing.

A very repeated phrase is: ''It is possible to have security without privacy, but it is not possible to have privacy without security''.

Privacy is a right that must be protected, and Data Protection are the measures that will be used to achieve this protection.

Option C is definitely wrong. A DPIA is not mandatory for all types of personal data processing, that would be overkill.

I'm not sure about that. Option B doesn't seem quite right - the lack of a security policy doesn't necessarily trigger a DPIA, does it?

Option A seems to be the correct answer. The GDPR requires a DPIA when new technologies are used that may pose a high risk to individuals' rights and freedoms.

That makes sense, it's important to assess risks to protect data subjects' rights and freedoms.
