I'm just glad they didn't throw in an option about using control plane policers to stop hackers from stealing my socks. That would have really thrown me off.
D is just plain wrong. The control plane policer has to be processed before the forwarding decision, not after. It's there to protect the control plane, not the data plane.
I'm not sure about that. I think A and D are the correct answers because control plane policers are hardware dependent and must be processed before forwarding decisions.
I'm not sure about B. Shouldn't control plane policers be used on all devices, not just externally facing ones? And C is definitely wrong - false alarms would be a big problem.
A and E seem like the right options to me. The control plane policer needs to be hardware-based to protect the software path, and it needs to account for protocol overhead to allow convergence.
I agree with you, Thora. Control plane policers must be processed before forwarding decisions are made, and protocols overhead should be factored in for convergence.
