Cisco Exam 300-720 Topic 3 Question 82 Discussion

Actual exam question for Cisco's 300-720 exam
Question #: 82
Topic #: 3
[All 300-720 Questions]

An engineer is tasked with reviewing mail logs to confirm that messages sent from domain abc.com are passing SPF verification and being accepted by the Cisco ES

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: B

According to the [Cisco Secure Email User Guide], you can create a text resource of type Disclaimer Template and use the code view option to insert HTML code into the text box. Then, you can use this text resource in a content filter to prepend or append the HTML message to the email body[1, p. 15-16].

The other options are not valid because:

A) Creating a text resource type of Disclaimer Template and pasting the HTML code into the text box without changing to code view will not work, as the HTML code will be treated as plain text and not rendered properly[1, p. 15].

C) Creating a text resource type of Notification Template and pasting the HTML code into the text box will not work, as Notification Templates are used for sending notifications to senders or recipients, not for modifying the email body[1, p. 17].

D) Creating a text resource type of Notification Template and changing to code view to paste the HTML code into the text box will not work, as Notification Templates are used for sending notifications to senders or recipients, not for modifying the email body[1, p. 17].

I bet the engineer's just been too busy playing Solitaire on their computer to notice the SPF issues. Tech support these days, am I right?

Hmm, this is a tricky one. I'm gonna have to go with Option C - maybe the engineers just really love SIDF and wanted to keep things 'compatible'... or they're just not paying attention.

I think it could also be because an SPF verification Content Filter has not been created. That might be causing the issue.

Option D is the one that catches my eye. If there's no SPF verification Content Filter, how would the system even know to check for it?

I'd go with Option A. The Recipient Access Table is where you'd configure SPF settings, so if it's disabled there, the verification won't work.

I agree with Santos, that could be the reason. Maybe the engineer should check the Recipient Access Table settings.

I think the verification is not working because SPF verification is disabled in the Recipient Access Table.

Option B seems like the most likely culprit. If SPF verification is disabled on the Mail Flow Policy, that would explain why it's not being referenced in the logs.
