Cisco Exam 300-615 Topic 2 Question 87 Discussion

Actual exam question for Cisco's 300-615 exam
Question #: 87
Topic #: 2
[All 300-615 Questions]

"A network engineer troubleshoots an issue at a Cisco data center environment with these conditions:

* The data center has Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches running the vPC setup.

* The gateway of the servers is an HSRP IP address between the VLAN interfaces configured on both Cisco Nexus switches.

* Some of the client application servers are implementing fast-path forwarding for the return traffic.

* Those servers are sending the return traffic to the VLAN interface MAC address instead of the HSRP MAC address.

The network engineer discovers that some traffic is dropped because it passes the vPC peer link to be forwarded out the vPC interface. What must be configured on the vPC switches to resolve the issue?

Okay, I see the servers are using the VLAN interface MAC instead of the HSRP MAC. 'Peer-gateway' should help with that.

I'm not sure, but I think peer-switch could also be a valid option to resolve the issue.

I agree with Cassandra, because peer-gateway allows the vPC switch to act as the gateway for the servers.

I agree with Willie, because peer-gateway allows the vPC peer switches to act as the active gateway for packets that are addressed to the HSRP IP address.

Hmm, the issue seems to be related to the HSRP MAC address. I think the 'peer-gateway' option is the way to go.
