I'm going with C. Introducing a data model transformation layer using XSLT is the most elegant solution to this interoperability problem. Anything else would just be a hacky workaround.

D, really? There's no way to overcome XML schema differences? Clearly the person who wrote that option has never heard of XSLT. C is the obvious choice here.
