Haha, classic database dilemma - do you go for speed or do you go for savings? I'm with Darell on this one, General Purpose SSD seems like the sweet spot. You get decent performance without breaking the bank.

I think we can all agree on that. It's a good compromise between speed and savings.

In this case, I think General Purpose SSD storage would be the most cost-effective option.

True, but it might be more costly compared to General Purpose SSD storage.

But what about Provisioned IOPS storage? Wouldn't that ensure better performance for the nightly batch processing?

I agree, General Purpose SSD storage should be the right choice.

Hold up, what about Throughput Optimized HDD? It's a lot cheaper than the SSD options, and for a mostly batch-oriented workload, the reduced IOPS might not be a big deal. Plus, you get a ton of storage for your money.

I don't know, man. Provisioned IOPS is great, but it can get really expensive, especially for a 4 TB database. General Purpose SSD might be the way to go - it's a good balance of performance and cost-effectiveness.

Hmm, this is an interesting one. A 4 TB database for batch processing definitely needs some serious storage horsepower. I'm leaning towards Provisioned IOPS storage - the consistent high performance should be perfect for those nightly batch jobs.
