Question #: 28
Topic #: 9
[All PAS-C01 Questions]

A global enterprise is running SAP ERP Central Component (SAP ECC) workloads on Oracle in an on-premises environment. The enterprise plans to migrate to SAP S 4HANA on AWS.

The enterprise recently acquired two other companies One of the acquired companies is running SAP ECC on Oracle as its ERP system The other acquired company is running an ERP system that is not from SAP The enterprise wants to consolidate the three ERP systems into one ERP system on SAP S 4HANA on AWS Not all the data from the acquired companies needs to be migrated to the final ERP system The enterprise needs to complete this migration with a solution that minimizes cost and maximizes operational efficiency.

Which solution will meet these requirements?

Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: D

This option would allow the company to continue using Oracle Database while also meeting their compliance requirements, as they would not need to install any additional software on their on-premises servers. They can use Oracle Data Guard to replicate their existing Oracle Database to an instance running on AWS, providing a way to migrate their SAP landscape to AWS while still using the same database.

Option B seems to have the right idea with the Selective Data Transition approach, but I'm not sure about the HANA intermediate step. Might be simpler to go straight to S/4HANA.

True, it could save time and resources to go directly to SAP S/4HANA.

I agree, but skipping the HANA step and going straight to S/4HANA might be simpler.

As an accountant, I'm just glad I don't have to deal with all this IT stuff. Though I do enjoy a good pun - how about 'SAP-tastrophe' if this migration doesn't go well?

I'm a bit skeptical about the lift-and-shift approach in Option A. Shouldn't we be looking to modernize the infrastructure as well? Option C or D seems like a better fit.

I think focusing on re-architecting and consolidating the systems is key for a successful migration.

Option C or D would definitely help in re-architecting the systems to SAP S/4HANA and moving to AWS.

That's a valid point, Theresia. Option B does seem to offer a more efficient approach with the Selective Data Transition method.

Option D looks like the most comprehensive solution, migrating all the systems to SAP S/4HANA on AWS and consolidating them into a single system. Seems like the best way to minimize cost and maximize efficiency.

It definitely seems like the most cost-effective solution, especially with the decommissioning of other systems.

I disagree, I believe option B is more cost-effective. It migrates the initial system to SAP HANA first and then consolidates the acquired companies' systems using Selective Data Transition.

I think option A is the best choice. It involves a lift-and-shift migration and consolidates all systems into SAP S/4HANA on AWS.
