True, the lifecycle hook could work, but it feels a bit hacky to me. I'd rather have the tags applied upfront, you know? Plus, the launch template option is more proactive and less reactive.

Hmm, this question seems to test our understanding of tagging and Auto Scaling groups. I think the most efficient solution here would be to update the Auto Scaling group launch template to include the cost center tags for the EBS volumes. That way, any new instances and their attached volumes will automatically have the correct tags.
