D has to be the correct answer. A 500 error indicates a server-side issue, which is exactly what I'd expect when an instance is unhealthy.

I'm going with C. If an instance is unhealthy, it shouldn't be receiving any traffic at all - a 400 error is the logical response.

Option B seems the most reasonable. Forwarding requests to other healthy instances while monitoring the unhealthy one for recovery makes the most sense.
